All amendments are permanent, accessible, and indexable to ensure that the scholarly publication record remains complete, transparent, and trustworthy.

Questions related to research integrity or post-publication amendments may be addressed to the Editorial Office of Journal of Oeconomia Syariah et Civitas (JOSC) through the journal’s official editorial contact.

Retractions

Retractions are issued when published content is found to be unreliable, invalid, or unethical, whether due to honest error or research misconduct.

Retractions may occur under the following circumstances:

  • Clear evidence of unreliable findings resulting from fabrication, falsification, miscalculation, or major analytical errors;
  • Redundant or duplicate publication without proper acknowledgment or justification;
  • Plagiarism, manipulated authorship, or serious publication ethics violations;
  • Research conducted without appropriate ethical approval involving human or animal subjects;
  • Manipulation of the publication or peer-review process, including fake peer review or paper-mill activity.

Retraction notices will:

  • Be clearly identified as a retraction;
  • Be permanently linked to the original article;
  • Remain freely accessible to readers;
  • Include a factual and transparent explanation regarding the reason for retraction and the responsible party.

Withdrawals

Withdrawal refers to the removal of manuscripts or articles before or shortly after publication under exceptional and justified circumstances.

The journal strongly discourages withdrawal of the published Version of Record (VoR) except when necessary to preserve the integrity and safety of the scholarly record.

Accepted Manuscripts (Pre-Publication Stage)

Accepted but unpublished manuscripts may be withdrawn if:

  • The manuscript was accidentally submitted or accepted multiple times;
  • Significant errors invalidate the findings;
  • The manuscript violates ethical, authorship, or publication policies.

In such cases, the manuscript record may be replaced with a formal Withdrawal Notice while preserving bibliographic transparency.

Version of Record (Post-Publication Stage)

Withdrawal of published articles is permitted only in exceptional circumstances, including:

  • Legal or privacy concerns;
  • Content posing health, safety, or reputational risks;
  • Serious copyright or intellectual-property violations.

A withdrawal notice will remain permanently available in place of the removed article while preserving DOI and metadata records.

Expressions of Concern

An Expression of Concern may be issued when editors have serious concerns regarding a published article but insufficient evidence exists to justify immediate retraction.

This may occur when:

  • Investigations remain ongoing or inconclusive;
  • There are strong indications of misconduct awaiting verification;
  • Institutional investigations are delayed or unavailable.

Expressions of Concern will remain publicly linked to the article and may later be updated with a Correction or Retraction notice depending on the investigation outcome.

Corrections

Corrections (Errata or Corrigenda) are issued when minor errors are identified that do not invalidate the article’s findings but require clarification or amendment.

Corrections may address:

  • Minor factual inaccuracies;
  • Errors in data presentation;
  • Missing acknowledgments or funding disclosures;
  • Incorrect author information or affiliations;
  • Omitted ethical statements or conflict-of-interest declarations.

Correction Procedures

For manuscripts published online-first or in early view format, corrections may be integrated directly into the article with a documented revision history.

For articles already assigned to a journal issue, a separate correction notice will be published and linked to the original article.

Minor typographical or copy-editing errors that do not affect interpretation or meaning generally do not require formal correction notices.

Principles of Transparency

All Retractions, Withdrawals, Corrections, and Expressions of Concern published by Journal of Oeconomia Syariah et Civitas (JOSC) are:

  • Permanent;
  • Freely accessible;
  • Fully indexed;
  • Transparently linked to the original article.

Each amendment notice will include:

  • Article title;
  • Author name(s);
  • DOI and publication information;
  • Reason for the amendment;
  • Responsible party (author, editor, or publisher).
