Conflict of Interest Policy
The Journal of Communicatio Et Cultura (JCC), published by Publisher Karya Grafindo Prima Perkasa, is committed to maintaining the highest standards of transparency, integrity, and ethical conduct in scholarly publishing.
All parties involved in the publication process — including authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial board members — are required to disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest that could influence their judgment, evaluation, or editorial decisions. The journal adheres strictly to internationally recognized publication ethics standards, including COPE Core Practices and DOAJ Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing.
1. Definition
A conflict of interest refers to any financial, institutional, personal, professional, political, or academic relationship that could reasonably be perceived as affecting the objectivity, impartiality, or integrity of research, peer review, or editorial decision-making.
Examples of conflicts of interest include, but are not limited to:
Financial Relationships
Research funding or sponsorship
Employment or institutional funding
Honoraria or consulting fees
Stock ownership or financial investment
Paid expert testimony or advisory roles
Non-Financial Relationships
Personal or family relationships
Institutional affiliations
Academic competition or rivalry
Political or ideological commitments
Editorial responsibilities or professional collaborations
The existence of a conflict of interest does not necessarily constitute misconduct. However, all potential conflicts must be disclosed to maintain transparency and trust in the scholarly publication process.
2. Responsibilities
Authors
Authors are required to disclose all financial and non-financial interests that may influence the interpretation, presentation, or publication of their research. A Conflict of Interest Statement must be submitted after manuscript acceptance during the production process through the journal’s online submission system. Each author is required to complete and upload the signed Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form as a supplementary document under the designated production section. If no conflicts of interest exist, authors must clearly state in the manuscript: “The authors declare no conflict of interest.”
Reviewers
Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest before accepting a review assignment. Reviewers must decline the review invitation if they have personal relationships with authors, institutional affiliations connected to the manuscript, professional or academic conflicts, or competing interests related to the submitted research.
Editors and Editorial Board Members
Editors and editorial board members must disclose any conflicts that could affect their impartiality in handling submissions. Editors are required to recuse themselves from editorial decisions involving manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist. The Editor-in-Chief may assign the manuscript to another editor or independent reviewer to ensure objective evaluation and editorial fairness.
4. Evaluation and Management
All disclosed conflicts of interest are reviewed confidentially by the Editorial Office. Appropriate editorial actions may include reassigning editors or reviewers, requesting additional clarification or disclosure, and publishing disclosure statements alongside the article when necessary.
If an undisclosed conflict of interest is identified after publication, the journal may take corrective action in accordance with COPE ethical guidelines, including publication of corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions in severe cases.
5. Transparency of Disclosure
Conflict of Interest Statements will be published together with the final published article to maintain transparency and accountability. If no conflicts are declared, the statement “No conflicts of interest were declared” will appear in the published article.
6. Institutional and Publisher Responsibilities
The Editorial Board and Publisher Karya Grafindo Prima Perkasa guarantee full editorial independence throughout the publication process. Commercial interests, sponsorships, advertisements, or financial arrangements shall not influence editorial decisions, peer review outcomes, or article content.
All editorial staff members operate in accordance with international publication ethics standards and COPE Core Practices.
7. Ethical and International Compliance
This policy is developed in accordance with internationally recognized publication ethics and transparency standards, including COPE Competing Interests Guidelines, DOAJ Principles of Transparency and Best Practice, and World Association of Academic Editors (WAAE).
