Abstract

This study aims to analyze how the digital technology–based transformation of Islamic education contributes to enhancing students’ religious literacy. The research employs a qualitative method with a case study design, as the phenomenon under investigation requires an in-depth understanding of experiences, interactions, and the process of value internalization within the context of digital learning. This method and design were chosen to capture the real dynamics occurring within the educational environment holistically. The study was conducted at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Al-Furqan, an Islamic educational institution that has consistently implemented digital learning. Informants consisted of one school principal, two Islamic education teachers, and four students selected purposively because of their direct involvement in the implementation of digital learning. The findings indicate that digital technology expands access to religious knowledge, strengthens pedagogical interaction, and enhances students’ ability to critically manage religious information. However, challenges still arise in aspects of digital literacy and the selection of credible religious sources. The study recommends improving teacher capacity, developing a digital religious literacy curriculum, and providing curated digital religious content to support the effectiveness of Islamic education transformation in the digital era.
